ABOUT US

The principal therapist at Sydney Myotherapy is Peter Williams. Peter holds a Batchelor of Musculoskeletal therapy which specialises in the treatment and management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.

 Peter completed training as a Registered Nurse at the University of Technology in 1989 . He went on to complete training as a Midwife in 1994. Due to his interest in healthcare and treatment of pain and disability Peter was drawn to somatic (“related to the body”) therapy completing a diploma of massage in 1999 at Loftus TAFE.

Throughout his career he has been dedicated to improving his skills and knowledge to optimise his results for clients. He has studied and worked with some of Australia’s most successful and skilled massage therapists.

Teacher: Steve Lockhart

A form of bodywork based largely on an ancient art of healing from the East and was made popular by Steve Lockhart in the early 90s. SLM bodywork is best defined as, 'manipulation of the body's soft tissue using a unique combination of acupressure and massage techniques that put length and function back into the muscles and balance the body, allowing it to function normally.

Teacher: Kit Laughlin

ST comprises the following main elements:

Stretching - techniques to improve the Range of Movement (ROM) of the body; nerves, fascia and muscles are used as ‘gateways’ to change the brain.

Repatterning- Inactive muscles are made active; knees, shoulders, and elbows are stabilised; posture and alignment are made more efficient.

Strengthening-The capacity of the whole body to exert force is the emphasis here; most techniques are body-weight only, and all involve the ‘core’.

A ystem of myofascial release techniques to balance the connective tissue network and treat pain related connective tissue dysfunction.

Teacher: Jeff Murray

Onsen Therapy is an Advanced Musculoskeletal Therapy that consists of muscle energy technique, contract-relax stretching, transverse friction massage, and length-strength balancing. It addresses the structural aspects of pain.

Panabaa Release                                                  

Teacher Gordon Tyack

Panabaa Release works by releasing the restrictions in the muscles and tissues surrounding the joints, but in particular along the spinal column. Using advanced mobilization techniques restrictions between vertebrae are released enabling realignment of the vertebrae. and allows the whole of the spine to be treated.

Musculoskeletal therapy is a branch of manual medicine that focuses on the treatment and management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Myotherapy involves an extensive physical evaluation and an integrated therapeutic approach in the treatment of affected muscles, joints and nerves.

It uses standard methods of assessment such as postural evaluation and neurological and functional testing to determine the particular cause of musculoskeletal pain and associated dysfunction
