The human body has an amazing capacity for self healing . Given the proper environment , our bodies restoration system can heal torn ligaments , damaged nerves , broken bones , strained muscles , and so on . We aim to get your body into the optimal balanced healing environment by using one or a combination of the following:

Myotherapy
Myotherapy is derived from the latin “myo” meaning muscle thus muscle therapy.  Massage at Sydney Myotherapy utilises a powerful combination of hands on techniques and knowledge to rebalance the body and remove causes of pain and injury.  Myotherapy techniques:
  • Restore length and function into the muscles, improving muscle activation & relaxation
  • Manipulate, lengthen, re-align and re-organizes your fascia (a seamless web of connective tissue that connects the muscles, organs and skeletal structures)
  • Mobilise joints and increase joint space
  • Eliminate trigger points
  • Improve flexibility of the fascia on the first session & becomes cumulativewith multiple sessions.
  • Decreases and eliminates pain allowing you to finally enjoy a life of quality.
Additionally we teach you how to maintain optimal muscular and fascial flexibilityafter we identify & eliminate the problems
Stretch Therapy.
The goal of any stretching and exercise program for someone with back pain is to bring the body back to a balanced state. This includes making sure that your muscles are in balance with each other and that your bones are positioned where they should be, so that your joints can function with precision.

Benefits Of Stretch Therapy

  • Improved posture & functional ability to do what you couldn't do before
  • Improves muscle activation & relaxation.
  • Improves flexibility on the first session & becomes cumulative with multiple sessions.
  • Restoration of normal joint space is anti-aging at its best - youthful movement without pain!
  • Reduces injuries so you can get on with your goals in fitness, recreation & sports.
  • Will make all the difference in sports performance.
Stretch  and Core Classes
Stretch Therapy at Sydney Myotherapy utilises the contract relax technique which is a form of  the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) method . Research in sport science and other disciplines repeatedly demonstrates that stretching using PNF techniques yields the most gains in range of motion in the shortest amount of time.

During a class, you will warm up, and learn and stretch individually or in pairs (our 'partner' work). The classes are graded and cater to all levels of ability and flexibility, and all our exercises can be modified to suit the needs of each individual. Each class is designed to build on the previous one, which is why we only run term-based courses.

As the classes progress, we add strength , core and balance exercises into the mix. By the semester's end you will have been taught advanced stretching techniques (such as the Contract-Relax method) and variations of all exercises that suit your individual needs—things that can be performed easily at home or in the office with little or no equipment.
Personal Training and Corrective Exercise Strategies
The focus of personal training at Sydney Myotherapy is to improve the way people move. Moving from poor movement patterns is like driving a car with flat tyres.  If you exercise regularly you may think that you are appropriately challenging your body with the workouts you do. A common misconception is that as long as you are doing something you're helping yourself. This is not neccesarily true regarding strength training.

Firstly if you weight train and do only a few exercises, you could be adding to or creating muscle imbalances.

Secondly if most or all of the exercises you do involve machines and sitting or lying supported at all times, your never challenging your deeper stabilizing muscles, called your core .

When training in the fully equipped studio at, a variety of exercises that work on flexibility, core activation, balance, strength and power are used. The exercises are multidirectional and integrate muscular chains necessary for joint stability and muscular balance.

Training is done one on one or in groups ranging from 2 to 4 people .
